Winter Weekend in Falmouth

Not a skier but still feel like getting away?  Consider spending the upcoming long weekend (February 14, 15, 16) in the historic, seaside town of Falmouth.   Since Falmouth is so much of a year-round community, there's plenty to do on a winter weekend.

Many of the bed and breakfast inns (including the Captain Tom Lawrence House!) are open, as are most of the restaurants. Cozy fireplaces, hot beverages, and warm hospitality make them especially inviting.

Here's some suggestions for your weekend:  If you're looking for a special dinner for Valentine's Day, check out Osteria La Civetta, The Glass Onion, or La Cucina Sul Mare.  Treat yourself to a spa treatment at Bellezza Salon/Med Spa.  Shop or browse the galleries on Main Street, the Queens' Buyway, and Woods Hole.  There's live music at Liam Maguire's and Grumpy's Pub.  If the weather cooperates, enjoy a walk through Beebe Woods, along the beach, the Knob, or the Shining Sea Bikeway.  You can even take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. While it is indeed quiet on the Vineyard this time of year, that makes for a great opportunity to explore the towns without the crowds.  Whatever your plans, don't miss the sunset.
