Woods Hole - One of the Best Small Towns to Visit

There's a new honor bestowed on Woods Hole! In its third annual  Best Small Towns to Visit list,  Smithsonian Magazine has named Woods Hole as Number 5, right after Williamsburgh, VA and Steamboat Springs, CO.  The list highlights 20 towns (Woods Hole is actually a village in the Town of Falmouth) of fewer than 15,000 residents that are noteworthy for their history, music, visual arts, learning, food, theater and science.  Woods Hole certainly fits the bill.

"Science, in a word, is what sets Woods Hole apart from other salty Cape Cod towns, and the good news is you can get pretty close to the action", the article states. The village was singled out for its renowned scientific institutions including the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Marine Biological Laboratory and Woods Hole Science Aquarium, as well as smaller institutions of learning such as the Woods Hole Research Center, Sea Education Association, and Children's School of Science.

The article also notes that Woods Hole strikes a pleasant balance between science, the arts, the charm of small-town living, and the natural beauty of local beaches, trails, ponds.  Whatever your interests, don't pass up a visit to acclaimed Woods Hole.
